Fruit and Vegetable Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stock Management:
   1. Receive deliveries of fresh fruits and vegetables, inspecting them for quality and freshness.
   2. Ensure proper storage of products, rotating stock to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage and wastage.
   3. Stock shelves and displays with a variety of fruits and vegetables, ensuring attractive presentation and no spoiled items are being displayed.
2. Customer Service:
   1. Greet customers and offer assistance in selecting produce items.
   2. Provide information about different types of fruits and vegetables, including their taste, ripeness, and uses.
   3. Weigh and package product items according to customer preferences.
   4. Address customer inquiries and concerns in a friendly and helpful manner.
3. Quality Assurance:
   1. Monitor the condition of fruits and vegetables throughout the day, removing any damaged or spoiled items promptly.
   2. Conduct regular inspections of the production department to ensure cleanliness and adherence to food safety standards.
   3. Follow proper handling procedures to minimise waste and maintain product quality.
4. Merchandising and Display:
   1. Create visually appealing displays of fruits and vegetables to attract customers and stimulate sales.
   2. Implement signage and pricing strategies to promote featured items and specials.
   3. Adjust display layouts and arrangements as needed to optimise space and showcase seasonal products.
5. Team Collaboration:
   1. Work closely with other department associates and team members to coordinate stocking, cleaning, and customer service efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of different types of fruits and vegetables, including their seasonality and storage requirements.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and helpful attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Basic maths skills for weighing and pricing products.
• Previous experience in a similar role may be preferred.
• Valid character Certificate
• Valid food handlers card
