Job Description

The Plant Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the plant, ensuring smooth production processes while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and compliance with operational standards. The role involves monitoring equipment, assisting in maintenance activities, and supporting the loading and unloading of materials when required.

Job Requirements

Plant Operations & Maintenance:
  • Operate plant machinery efficiently to optimize production output.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure they meet Quality and food Safety requirements.
  • Follow detailed work instructions for all tasks to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Perform regular rounds to check tank readings, yard safety, and fill in the Operators’ log book.
  • Opens and closes factory gates for personnel and visitors.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
  • Accurately and legibly fill in production records and logs.
  • Report and record systematically any site issues, equipment malfunctions, and near misses to the supervisor.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities.
Maintenance and Housekeeping:
  • Assist the maintenance team with repair works on the plant.
  • Perform daily housekeeping of the plant/assigned section and surrounding areas to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Maintain and repaint plant facilities when not in operation to ensure proper upkeep.
Material Handling:
  • Safely load and unload cylinders or other materials in containers, ensuring proper handling to prevent accidents or damage.
Adherence to Safety & Health Protocols:
  • Strictly adhere to safety guidelines and protocols during all operations.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns promptly.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and demonstrates consistent safe behaviour at work
  • Follows Health & Safety requirements for the section and make use of near miss boxes
  • Reports to work well-groomed and wears PPEs in a responsible manner
  • Participates in drills and in risk assessment exercises.
  • Helps to secure site in case of natural disaster
Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth workflow and effective communication.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues as needed for various tasks.
The job holder should ideally possess:
  • Good physical condition, with the ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including moving, lifting, and carrying heavy materials as required.
  • Attention to details for accurate machine readings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work night shifts.
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of previous experience in a similar role.
