The Role
Catalytique Consulting is actively seeking a Technical Content Creator to join their team.
The Technical Content Creator role is one that combines Technical Writing, Instructional Design, and Content Creation to produce content aimed at informing and educating business end-users and internal stakeholders about new releases, existing features, and their business value and benefits.
Your role will primarily consist of documenting new features as they are released and maintaining a knowledge base of existing support and help materials. You will also be responsible for designing, creating, and updating online training content. With each new release, you will assess the impact on help materials, plan updates to existing materials and the creation of any new materials required.
You will be collaborating closely with the product management team, taking in the technical details around new feature developments, changes, and enhancements, and translating these into user-friendly release notes for use by internal stakeholders and for customer end-users. Internal release notes are required to be more technical and comprehensive, while customer release notes are required to be more focused on business value and how it helps customers achieve their goals. And, you will be collaborating with product marketing to produce written content, simple supporting graphics, and engaging videos.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Become a product specialist with an in-depth knowledge of how the software works and develop a solid understanding of the solutions it integrates with, through research, self-study, and guided learning
- Collaborate closely with the product management to create internal release note documentation that is suitable for a business/technical user audience
- Collaborate closely with the product management and marketing teams to translate technical release notes into user-friendly release notes suitable for end-users
- Assess the impact of new releases on help and training materials, and plan new content creation and updates accordingly
- Perform planned updates and new content creation according to set deadlines
- Setup training and demo software environments that reflect real business use cases, that you will use to take screenshots, create animated GIFs, and produce step-by-step videos
- Outside of the release cycle, work with product marketing to produce written content, simple graphics, and engaging videos as required to highlight key features and their value
- Assist with any other activities suited to your skills, as required by the business from time to time
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Before applying for this role, you should comply with the following minimum requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in technical writing, information systems, information technology, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years technical writing experience for a business user audience preferably with a software development or ICT company
In addition, experience in the following will give you a clear advantage and set you apart from other candidates applying for this role:
- 2+ years managing a knowledge base of user-friendly technical content
- 2+ years in a software training role and/or creating eLearning content that teaches business users how to use software
- 2+ years in a technical support role where you had to support business users
- Experience working with document automation and proposal management systems
- Experience working with the following platforms and apps:
- Zendesk
- Microsoft 365 (with SharePoint Online)
- Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro)
- Camtasia

- Proven ability to evaluate and analyze complex information, and to translate and convey it in a user-friendly manner in a style that is suited to the target audience: more technical for internal stakeholders, more benefit/value focused for business end-users
- Planning, outlining, and determining the best way to structure and organize technical, training, and help content with the end-user in mind
- Superior command of the English language, with outstanding writing skills and a keen eye for detail
- Intermediate graphic design skills for developing conceptual graphics and annotating screenshots
- Intermediate video production skills for recording screens and creating video tutorials
